So I’m using Pinterest to collect swipe (“mood boards,” “inspiration boards”) for my internship, and I just have to ask y’all if you find it as dysfunctional and annoying as I do.
You can’t flip through images. There are a lot of problems, but that is numero uno. The simplest, most obvious thing. WTF, PINTEREST. You also can’t (to my knowledge) add multiple pins at once, delete multiple pins at once, or rearrange the order and layout of your board without deleting and repinning. I guess this is WAY too much to ask, but you also can’t change the size of the images as viewed on a board. So much for attempting any kind of actual composition. Nope. Just an pile of images, all the same size, whatever, who cares.
This site basically sucks for making “mood boards,” which is what I think a lot of people use it for…? Why? Why does it suck SO BAD?
Is there a better online tool for this out there? If not, will someone (“someone,” some tech fairy godmother) get on it? I’m sure it’d be successful. BECAUSE PINTEREST SUCKS. SO BAD.
This blog has gotten a little bit dusty and cobwebby, hasn’t it? I’m about to hop back on the wagon. Look for new posts, new design work from me (or stuff I just haven’t posted yet!), AND:
A new little experiment, starting tomorrow! For a head start, follow TypograTweets on Twitter and Tumblr.
Updates on me: This summer I graduated (at last!) from the University of Georgia with my BFA in Graphic Design. Now I’m on the lookout for job opportunities and new ideas. Recently I polished up a portfolio site of my work. Check it out if you get the chance.
“I hate people who don’t read. I hate people who don’t cook, or know anything about music. I couldn’t work with anyone who only goes to McDonalds. I want people who know movies, who know music, who read books. As you know, not all graphic designers are ‘multi-dimensional.’ They don’t read, they don’t do anything else, and I couldn’t work with those people. I need team people who have general knowledge because that’s what we do.”—Erik Spiekermann AKA my heart and soul
